Born and raised in Northern Ontario, guitarist Adam Smale has called New York City home for the last 14 years. In that time, he’s been thrilled to play with some of the best local jazz musicians in the Big Apple. There was a 4 year stint in Manhattan along the way, but he is once again living in the heart of Brooklyn.
Adam’s newest project, TYRAMID (rhymes with pyramid), includes some of those best musicians on the NYC scene. This trio features Adam as guitarist and leader, drummer extraordinaire Evan Hyde, and Michael O’Brien, a highly skilled and talented bassist.
Steeped in bebop and 1960’s post-bebop influences, TYRAMID brings a fresh modern twist combined with contemporary swagger. It’s an exciting group with riveting interplay that takes the listener on a unique sonic journey with each song—a specific skill the greatest jazz groups are known for. TYRAMID will be performing many of Adam’s original compositions as well as their unique take on choice jazz standards.
